Hi everybody!
:D
My new article is
going to talk about Germany's capital city! Have you guessed? It's
Berlin of course! This city is situated in the North-East of
Germany and it's quite big as there are 3.5 millions of
inhabitants!
So, let me explain you! Three weeks ago,
everybody in my year that's in European section got to go to Berlin
for a week at their penpals'!! I think it's a great opportunity to
meet people from another country with differents ways of living. In
September, our penpals also came for a week in Rennes so we got to
meet them and have fun with them, it was really nice! To go to
Germany, we had twenty hours of drive though, which is a lot! :/
It's really annoying and exhausting after a while, but to be
honest, I was really looking foward to seeing the penpals (apart
from mine..). Let me introduce her to you!
So, my penpal is
called Sherin Belhing and she's 14, just like me! She's tall and
slim. She has short blond and straight hair with nice blue eyes. In
September, when I finally got her e-mail adress, I sent her a mail
straight away, and we were getting on really well. When we were
chatting on Facebook, she was putting a lot of smileys and some
hearts. I thought she was really nice and I loved the fact that she
was really outgoing, just like me. And then, when she came to
France in September, she was a bit shy and we didn't talk much. For
example, on the way home or the way to school, we didn't have
anything to tell eachother which was very annoying and boring at
times! :/ To tell you the truth, I was really disappointed. But on
the other hand, whenever we were talking together, she was really
nice, so I can't say I didn't like her at all.
Anyway, so, as
I've already told you, three weeks ago we were going to Berlin! I
was really tired as I only slept 30 minutes!! :/When we arrived in
front of our penpals' school at 4 where they were waiting for us, I
could see through the window that Sherin was there with her mother,
sister and friends. Oh yea, I have forgotten to tell you, Sherin
has a sister aged 11 and she's amazing at english, she's nearly
fluent, that's so good!
She's really outgoing and funny. I
often talked with her! When I got out of the bus, I took my
suitcase and bags and I came to Sherin straight away. We said hello
and her mother told me ''Welcome in Berlin'', which was really nice
to hear! Then, we got in the car and I got to meet her, she was
really kind! Afterwards, we arrived at Sherin's home. She lives in
a really nice district. It kinda reminds me of the serie
''Desperate Housewives''. Sherin's mother explained me that before
the houses were built, there used to be a big football course, so
the grass was really nice, shiny and greenful!
Then, they
showed me the house and the differents rooms in it. It was quite
big! The bedroom they lent me must have been the biggest room in
the whole house to be honest! I had my own stage, imagine! I think
I was very lucky! :P After tidying my clothes in my bedroom,
Sherin, her mother and Sarah brought me to a supermarket. They
wanted me to choose everything I wanted to eat during the week and
that I wanted for my lunch on schooldays. I thought that was really
nice of them. I remember that she asked me what I wanted in my
sandwiches, so I said ''Ham, please'', and she answer back ''Ok..
but.. what type of ham?'', I replied, ''You know, ehm.. normal..
ham!'', and she showed me all this cooked meat! It was quite funny!
Afterwards, we went back home and I finally met Sherin's
father! He's lovely and a bit shy, just like her daughter:Sherin!
We had dinner and then I played a game with Sarah and Sherin, we
had a lot of fun, I won several times. Then, at 9, we went to the
opera to drop Sarah as she's an actress there! I think she's really
young for it!! While this time, Sherin, her parents and I had a
walk in the main avenues of Berlin. They showed me the most famous
places and explained me the story of that city. It was really
interesting! At 11, we came back to the opera to pick up Sarah! But
she wasn't there yet so we had to wait for her. As it was getting
quite long, we went to the opera's restaurant where all the actors
are and eat. They made me try Bretzels which is very popular in
Berlin! I liked it, it was nice enough!
Then, when she was
finally there, we got home, it was midnight, and I was so tired
that... I even fell asleep in the car! :P So, Sherin woke me up
when we were arrived! I went to bed straight away and thanked
Sherin's parents for what we've done! On Sunday, the following day,
I woke up quite late as I was exhausted from the Saturday evening.
At 12, we left home to go to a mini golf club witn Gaëlle-Anne,
Marine and their penpals. When we got their, we noticed that it was
closed (I was happy because I didn't want to play mini golf). So
instead, we had a walk near a lake in a little ''village''. They
made us try ''Bubble tea''. It's a really special drink. You choose
a flavour for the juice you want and then you choose another
flavour for the ''balls''. And then when it's in your mouth, it
kinda bursts, it was nice!
Then we got home and we all
played dars. It was soooooooooo boring! :/ The penpals were looking
and laughing at us when we didn't even know why! :/ And Sherin was
really shy! She almost never talked when I was in Germany! :O Way
more than when she came to France. We never got to have a proper
conversation together which was such a pity. I was trying to talk
to her but whenever I was, she was either answering by ''Yes'' or
''No''! :/ Anyway, at 4, Delya, Annah and their penpals came at
Sherin's and we had a walk. Then we stayed in a park for about an
hour and a half. Something's really weird in Germany.. they don't
have lunch! So all the french people were starving in the
afternoon! At 4, we had cupcakes though. At 6,everybody left and
the father brought Sherin, Sarah and I in Berlin to a retaurant.
They made me trying ''Currywurst''. It's typical from Berlin. It's
a sausage with curry and salt on it with ketchup. And then, there
are french fries with mayonnaise or ketchup! It was nice but... I
was full then!! On the following day, we went to the school. It
took around 10 minutes by bus which is good!
We were really
happy to all see eachother.. FINALLY! After one day and a half
alone!!
And during the schooldays, we were doing visits in
Berlin! On Monday night, Cécile, Daphné, Gaëlle-Anne and I went to
our penpals' badminton lesson. We didn't get to play a lot though
but I didn't mind at all!
And then all the days flew by. On
Thurday, we finished at 3, and we had bowling at 6.20 so we had
3.20 hours free. I was with Rebecca (Ainara's penpal) a lot. She's
my favourite German penpal. On Friday evening, I was really sad to
leave my friends and Germany. I still talk with them, and I always
will.
To conclude, I
really liked Berlin! Most of the people that were there said that
London was better but I can't really know as I didn't go
there!
I hope it has
interested you! You should really go to Germany, there are so much
things to see! Bye! Guillemette !
